State Police say a New York Man was smoking weed outside a State Police barracks while parked in a police only parking spot.

Police say Ryan M. Law, 22, from Gansevoort, was scheduled to attend a victim panel at a town court in Clifton Park, an Albany suburb. Clifton Park Town Court is also housed by members for the New York State Police. Law parked his car in the front of the station in a parking spot that was marked “Police Cars Only.”

Other officers were in the parking lot and noticed Law’s parking mistake. One uniformed Trooper stopped unloading his patrol car from the lot and approached Law to tell him he was parked in the wrong spot. That’s when the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Police allege a search of the vehicle located close to 30 grams of marijuana.

Law was charged with a misdemeanor of criminal possession of marijuana. Law was released on an appearance ticket and is due back at the Clinfton Park Court on Tuesday December 15th to answer the charge.
