Devin Dawson was cool and confident when he stepped into the national spotlight on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday (June 11) to perform his latest single, "Asking for a Friend."

The Taste of Country RISERS rising star was honest and subtle during his late-night appearance, demonstrating why he's one of country music's most notable new stars as he delivered the soulful words: "He ain't ever been any good at laying it all out on the line / I swear down deep, believe me girl, he's a really good guy / If you can find it in your heart just to cut him some slack / He'll be Johnny-on-the-spot here in two seconds flat."

Dawson embodies an authentic country sound on this track, which is masterfully captured in this live performance.

"Asking for a Friend" is the second single off Dawson's debut studio album Dark Horse, following his breakthrough "All on Me." Dawson made his TV debut on Meyers' show in 2017 with his first hit.

"I’m not a great communicator. I’m not great at saying I’m sorry. I’m not great at letting my walls and my pride down. So that song definitely embodies who I am in love sometimes," he says of the vulnerable track.

Dawson recently performed at 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival alongside some of the genre's most prominent acts, Eric ChurchSam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line. He's set to hit the road with Brett Eldredge on the continuation of his Long Way Tour, with the new leg kicking off Sept. 13 in Denver, Colo., then moving on to a multitude of cities across the U.S. Abby Anderson is also part of the tour as an opening act.
