Now that spring has finally arrived in New York and the Hudson Valley, it's time to get out and explore.

It's the perfect time to look for a new adventure, on June 9th the Department of Environmental Conservation is encouraging us to celebrate Outdoors Day.

DEC Commissioner Seggos said in a statement "With nearly five million acres of land open to the public to explore, New Yorkers have endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. DEC is excited to host Outdoors Day events on June 9th and open up new possibilities for outdoor recreation for people of all ages. We encourage you to spend the day with us enjoying the outdoors and trying a new skill."

There will be 11 DEC hosted events throughout New York State, including a few here in the Hudson Valley. Bear Mountain State ParkSterling Forest State ParkMinnewaska State Park Preserve and Minnewaska State Park Preserve Sam's Point Area will all be participating as well as Stony Kill Environmental Education Center.

At these locations residents can participate in activities such as hiking, bird watching and outdoor safety.
