City of Poughkeepsie 8th Ward Councilman Tracy Hermann die suddenly, Mayor Rob Rolison and City Council Chairman Chris Petsas confirmed Thursday.

"Tracy was a dedicated public servant whose passion for this city showed through in everything he did and in return he was beloved by the people of Poughkeepsie," Rolison said in a prepared statement Thursday afternoon.

Hermann was elected to the City of Poughkeepsie Council in 2014, championing issues related to economic development, blight caused by abandoned properties and youth services.
