Cheated Hudson Valley Bottini Customers To Be Reimbursed

Bottini Fuel found themselves in big trouble earlier this after being convicted of defrauding their customers. As part of their conviction, they face more than $3.2 million in restitution and penalties to the Attorney General's office. Now come questions from those who were taken advantage of, when can they expect compensation?

The company stole more than $1.7 million over a 12 year period by taking overages and double charges and depositing the money into dummy accounts that were then used by owners, staff, and friends to cover their own bills and expenses. They might not have gotten caught if not for a whistleblower that blew the whole thing wide open.

Now that the case has been settled, how do the affected customers get what's rightfully theirs? The New York State Attorney Generals office will contact all defrauded customers and will arrange payment. Should the person not be able to be located, the funds will be deposited with the State Comptrollers office where they can be claimed in the future. Reimbursement will begin in a few weeks.
