Boyfriend Pleads Guilty in Death of Hudson Valley Toddler

A 32-year-old boyfriend plead guilty to beating and shaking his Hudson Valley girlfriend's toddler to death.

In Weschester County Court, 32 year-old Carlton Brown plead guilty to 1st-degree manslaughter, a class “B” Felony. The guilty plea is in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s two-year-old, Kali Mack.

According to the prosecution, on August 31, 2014 Brown called 911 to report a child in distress. Emergency Services arrived and were told the baby fell off the bed in her Mount Vernon home.

Kali Mack was taken to Montifiore Mount Vernon Hospital and later the Children’s Hospital at Montifiore in the Bronx and admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. On Sept. 3rd, 2014 Kali was pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death was abusive head trauma, in the manner of a homicide.

In court, Brown admitted to subjecting Kali Mack to blunt force trauma and forcibly shaking her body which caused her to sustain abusive head trauma and retinal hemorrhages.

Brown remains at Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 28. He faces a maximum sentence of twenty five years in state prison.
