Two people lost their lives in the Hudson Valley due to Tuesday's violent storm.

Just before 6 p.m., in the Town of Newburgh, a tree fell on a vehicle as a woman was driving. The woman died as a result of the accident, according to CBS. The victim's identity hasn't been released, as of this writing.

The girl and her mother were unloading their car when wind caused a large tree to collapse onto the SUV around 4:15 p.m. in the City of Newburgh on Robinson Lane.

The tree trapped the 11-year-old girl inside the vehicle. Emergency crews cut away limbs after a tree fell on the SUV.

The girl was extricated from the vehicle by the City of Newburgh Fire Department and taken to St. Luke’s hospital where she was pronounced dead, police say.

The girl's name or hometown weren't released. However, Newburgh school officials were notified of this incident, according to City of Newburgh police.

The mother suffered minor injuries.
