April in New York Means Fresh Herbs at the Market
So now that April is officially on the calendar this weekend we can start talking farm markets and fresh veggies. I know it is going to be a few months before we start bringing home local fresh fruits and veggies but the herbs have started to arrive. Fresh herbs are my favorite thing to use in cooking and in cocktails. There is nothing like pesto made with basil fresh from the plant. And all Mojitos need fresh mint mottled in the bottom of the glass.
Stop in to your favorite farm market this weekend and see what they have got growing for you. Most places will have started a variety of herbs in the green house which means they are ready for you to grab up and take home. Last week I shared an idea on how and where to grow you own herbs.
Fresh herbs are the best thing in everything but don't take my word for it, Jamie Oliver makes it sounds so much more fun. It must be the accent.
