And The CMA Musical Event of the Year Award Goes To

The 49th Annual CMA Awards will happen next Wednesday November 4th. You can watch them live on ABC starting at 8pm. I am looking forward to a great night of performances and can't wait to see what Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have come up with to open up the show.

Performances that night range from Jason Aldean to the Zac Brown Band.  For the complete list click here. There are lots of nominees in all the usual categories but my favorite category has always been the award for Musical Event of the Year and this year is no different.

It will be hard for me to pick a favorite. Keith Urban and Eric Church did a great job on Raise 'Em Up. Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe scored Blake a number one single with Lonely Tonight but the list is full of great artist so picking a winner won't be easy.

I love "Wild Child" with Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter teaming up again for another hit song that made it to number one. This could be their night.

However, the marriage of harmonies that Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town put together on Miranda's "Smokin' and Drinkin' are haunting and intoxicating. It is a real contender.

But the CMA award for Musical Event of the Year should go to Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. It is wonderful that these two legends can still make music together and Django and Jimmie is just plain old great country music.
