Sale of 70 A&P stores to Acme Markets is set to be finalized September 21, but four of those locations are now off of the table.

The Journal News reports that Acme will no longer be purchasing former A&P locations in Yonkers, Millwood, Bedford and Croton-on-Hudson. No reason was given, but the speculation is that it had something to do with the inability to secure a long term lease for the buildings.

Three local stores in Pleasant Valley, Brewster and Hopewell Junction are all still scheduled to be purchased by Acme. However, the fates A&P stores in LaGrangeville and Patterson remain up in the air. Final bids for those two locations as well as the 175 other available stores are due at 5pm on Monday. This will now also include the Yonkers, Millwood, Bedford and Croton-on-Hudson locations that were just rejected by Acme.

After the bidding process ends, the final auction will take place during the first two days in October. Key Foods and Stop and Shop have shown interest in some of the unsold A&P locations, but according to reports there were as many as 100 other bidders interested in some of the available properties.

Who do you hope purchases the two remaining A&P locations in the Hudson Valley? Let us know in the comments section below.
