A newborn baby was found by staff members at a Hudson Valley motel.

Patch reports that a newborn baby was found in the toilet of a motel room in the Hudson Valley. The baby was found at the Budget Inn on Route 9W. When motel staff went to clean the room, they found blood in the bathroom and around the toilet.

According to Patch, Teresa Rose Smith allegedly abandoned the room she rented around noon on November 1, 2018. She allegedly abandoned her newborn son in the toilet of the room she rented.

The newborn baby was found in the water of the toilet bowl, as reported by Patch. The baby was able to be revived and taken to the hospital. The baby is reported to be doing well.

Smith has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and child abandonment. She is being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond, according to Patch.
