The National Weather Service is predicting the Hudson Valley could see up to 6 inches of snow, with higher elevations in Ulster seeing up to 8 inches.

The snow will begin Thursday morning and may mix with rain during the day. The highest rates of snowfall are expected to occur later Thursday afternoon and into the evening.

A Nor'easter could be bringing snow to the Hudson Valley on Thursday.

Forecasters say the impending winter storm, which is threatening to dump up to 20 inches of snow in New England, may impact the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia and Green counties started at 9 a.m. Thursday until noon on Friday. Orange and Putnam counties are also expected to get snow.

There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation for Thursday in the local area. Snow is expected to develop Thursday morning, continue to the evening and taper off Thursday night.

Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Putnam counties are projected to get anywhere from one to four inches of snow.

Precipitation throughout Thursday could change from snow to rain, forecasters believe.

The local area could also see some snow on Friday. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow.
