Two Hudson Valley teens were killed in an early morning crash. Three others were injured, including one who is still in serious condition.

On Sunday around 2 a.m., State Police from Greennville received a report of a one-vehicle accident in the area of 2806 Route 6 in Slate Hill. Responding troopers found a Ford F-350 pickup truck that drove off the roadway and hit an Orange and Rockland utility pole.

All five of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle, police say. A rear-seat passenger, 19-year-old Jared B. Santillo of Monticello, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Four others were transported by ambulances to Orange Regional Medical Center. The driver, 19-year-old Vincent J. Peluso of Middletown, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two unnamed people were treated for broken bones and released from the hospital. A third injured individual remains at the medical center in serious condition with internal injuries.

A police investigation determined that the truck was traveling too fast during a curve in the roadway. Wet road conditions also played a factor in the crash, officials say.

The accident remains under investigation.

State Police was assisted at the scene by Slate Hill and Wawayanda Fire Departments, and New York State Department of Transportation.
