After 16 years, a popular Hudson Valley business is moving out of the mall.

There have been quite a few stores that have moved out of the Poughkeepsie Galleria over the past year. Just last week The Gap and Gap Kids closed their doors for the very last time. Now it looks like there will be another vacancy.

You may have seen new construction happening on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls across from Alto Music. The former bank building next to Bagel World has been vacant for a while and is now finally being remodeled. The stand-alone building in the Bank Plaza will reopen next month as Hannoush Jewelers.

Hannoush Jewelers has been operating in the Poughkeepsie Galleria since 2000. Owner Mike Halpy tells us that the family run business has been getting bigger and bigger since it first opened in 1980 and has finally outgrown their current location.

The new flagship building will serve as a one-stop destination where Halpy says his staff will be able to manufacture more custom pieces in a new, state of the art workshop. The new space will also allow the jewelery store to deliver quicker service.

A new customer lounge will be added to the building where shoppers can relax and enjoy coffee while waiting for their repairs. Halpy says the easy access from Route 9, ample parking and store upgrades are an integral part of the business' future success,

It's important to me that every customer genuinely has a wonderful experience very time they step through our doors...

Opening day is scheduled for June 1 and the new location will be open seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 10am to 8pm , Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and Sundays from Noon to 4pm. Once the Route 9 store is operational, the Poughkeepsie Galleria location will be closed.
