Aeropostale plans to close 154 stores, including 5 in New York. Will any of the Hudson Valley locations be closing down?

As part of it’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy the fashion retailer announced plans to close 113 U.S. stores and all 41 stores in Canada. The company has over 730 locations.

USA Today reports 117 of the closing stores are not profitable and were responsible for companies $17 million in losses in 2015.

The company hopes to make $21 million in revenue from their going out of business sales. Sales begin in the U.S. as early as the weekend of May 7.

There are five Aeropostale locations in the local area. At the Poughkeepsie Galleria, Galleria at Crystal Run, Woodbury Commons, Palisades Center, and Jefferson Valley
Mall. At this time the company has no plans to close any of the local stores.

In New York stores are closing in Buffalo, Clay, Amherst, and Brooklyn. The Aeropostale Times Square location in New York City is also shutting its doors.
