The start of Maple Sugaring season was last weekend (March 4th) but here in the Hudson Valley we'll be celebrating all month long. You can visit the Hudson Highland Nature Museum in Cornwall every Saturday and Sunday through March 26th to take part in two different maple sugar tours. The Sugar Bush tours take place at 11am, 1pm and 2pm which consists of a one mile hike to the sugar shack. The Maple Lane tour (which is given at 12pm and 3pm)is a shorter tour that brings the group to the new sugar shack and gives you the opportunity to tour the sugar maple stand.

During both tours you'll learn how to identify sugar maple tress and how to tap them. Plus you will see different types of sugaring techniques that were introduced by Native Americans, pioneers and modern day farmers. But the best part of the tour comes at the end when you can take part in a taste test to determine if you can tell the difference between maple flavored syrup and the real stuff that you learned about on your tour.

Members of the Hudson Highland Nature Museum have discounted admission paying $8 adults, $6 children, non-members will have to pay $10 adults and $8 children ages 3-17.
